The last building in the 20 year Kings’ Cross Masterplan by Argent, Capella is a single building composed as a terrace of seven towers. It provides 120 new homes for private sale and 56 social rented units alongside 20,000 sqft of retail space at ground floor and overlooks the new Lewis Cubitt Park.
We worked alongside the Architects and Main Contractor, Laing O’Rourke, to specify and supply the white textured bricks which were precast by Explore. The bricks are dual faced and manufactured with a precast key which makes it much more efficient as two faces can be taken from each brick. The factory was also able to make a number of special shaped bricks to ensure that the precast panels are seamless in their appearance.
To ensure batch consistency and security of supply, all of the bricks were taken into our bulk storage facility where we then co-ordinated the specialist cutting of the bricks and sequenced deliveries to the precast factory according to their manufacturing schedule.
