Working with KCA Architects EH Smith developed a pallette of materials to offer texture and tones between the various buildings on the project. Two products were selected from one factory with similar production techniques to ensure the language between the products worked.
Another brick was chosen to provide a marked contrast in the form of a smooth white offering a bold contrast at the front of the project against the older original Rustic bricks.
The need to infill the original brickwork in areas meant identifying the original brick used on the site which was carried out successfully. Areas of hit and miss detailing also required some bricks to be supplied as solids and a variety of fabricated specials were also produced and supplied as part of the package developed alongside Bouygues and ECE Architects.
Great management on site means that the brick façade looks fantastic up close and from a distance.
