Fitzroy Place - EH Smith

Fitzroy Place

London

Fitzroy Place is a 95,000 m² office, residential and commercial complex in Fitzrovia West London on the site of the former Middlesex Hospital which was to be based around the first new London square for over a century whilst incorporating the existing Grade II* listed chapel and retention of the Grade II listed building at 10 Mortimer Street for residential use.

E H Smith worked closely with the project’s award-winning architects, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and Sheppard Robson to help bring the building to life using bricks that evoke the clean simple lines and modern design with the use of Brick in a contemporary form and size, with the eventual choice based on a long Roman format @ 440mmx50mm, the Brick itself is a variegated Blue Red and sits beautifully within the very clean modern lines of this new development.

In other areas on the development a red bodied stock, reclaimed victorian red bricks and a heavily textured buff brick provide contrast and depth to the scheme.
