Oxford North - EH Smith

Oxford North

1 & 2 Fallaize Street

1 & 2 Fallaize Street form a key architectural component of the Oxford North masterplan, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects as part of a cohesive, innovation-led urban district. The two purpose-built laboratory and office buildings are designed to support flexible and scalable scientific workspaces.

Distinguished by a striking shiplap façade, the project utilises a bespoke Keratwin® K20 cladding system from Agrob Buchtal to deliver depth and texture across the elevations. Developed in close collaboration with the supplier, architects, and contractors, a custom mounting solution incorporating specially designed profiles and angles was created to achieve the intended layered shiplap effect.

This was the first project to adapt the system in this way, successfully delivering the architectural intent without compromising the performance of the mechanically fixed rainscreen system, and exemplifying a seamless integration of design ambition, technical precision, and buildability.
